Item: 96  Description: 1900-Era General Electric Battery Jar – Never Used – With Original “GUTS”. View 3 is taken against a black backdrop to show the inside parts better. The logo, which originated in 1898, is embossed three times on the jar. The jar itself has a ground down top, which was the common method of manufacture for jars in that era. The terminals project through a porcelain cap held in place by a metal ring. The only thing “wrong” with the setup is that the original cork gasket around the top has become brittle and is breaking up. The jar is about 7.5 inches tall with another 1.5 inches in height for the terminals. I speculate that it is very rare to find a never used, 125-year-old, battery jar in this condition.
