Item: 66 Description: U-990 Confederate “Tea Pot” Insulator. The Southern Porcelain Company of Kaolin, South Carolina made insulators for the Confederate Army until the factory burned down in 1864. This insulator was dug at the factory site. This “tea pot”, with its wonderful mottled glaze, has been reglued along the fracture that runs through the entire piece. View 3 and View 4 show the repair line the best. No other repairs. Grade R = Repaired. Estimate: $300 - $350 Open: $170 Price realized: $775 |
