Item: 276 Description: CD 106 HE MIN GRAY (100) Green. Let’s talk about this insulator. First, the spelling. The “HE” is set apart from the rest of the letters and is also on a much higher plane. The “MIN” is angled downward to get to the level where “GRAY” is embossed. Even then, the “G” is sunken compared to the only letters that look correct” “RAY”. Was this the engraver’s first day on the job? Or maybe his last? Now, the color. With the considerable dome glass, the color there is very dark green when backlit. In sunlight, the dome and wire groove areas, where the glass is thicker, are dark yellow green. The skirt, though, is “just green”. Now about condition: View 1 shows wear in the wire groove but look great otherwise. Although not readily evident in View 2, there is quite a bit of light wire wear from the wire groove down towards the bottom of the skirt. There’s an open bubble at the upper right of the wire groove. Two drip points are flaked; a few have open bubbles at their tips; and a few other drip points are blunted. Grade B overall .
