Item: 226 Description: U-81 Unmarked Duplex Insulator. This insulator was designed to be used below a crossarm on the same pin that held an insulator above the crossarm. The concept was to increase the number of telegraph / telephone lines with a minimum amount of hardware. View 3 is an ICON posting by Lou Hall that shows how Duplex pins worked. This insulator is crudely formed with extra porcelain adhering to the sides. There’s a couple of shallow wear spots on the inside edge at the top. Grade B-Plus .
