Item: 184 Description: CD 145 B (090) Light Aqua. This is a B.G.M. CO. blot out. And an obvious one. View 3 is a close up of the blot out markings, with a very readable “B” at the left. Baltimore Glass Manufacturing Company was started by former Brookfield employees. They had been fired for conspiracy to claim that a patent for a new insulator press was their idea. Once dismissed, they used the design to go into business for themselves in Baltimore in the mid-1890’s. Brookfield sued and, by 1903, put B.G.M. out of business. Brookfield received B.G.M.’s molds and re-worked them for its own use. This insulator has a shop number of a backwards “13” on top the dome. The insulator is very clean and shiny. The condition is Grade A-Minus with only a light dome ping. These aren’t seen much and are probably undervalued in the Price Guide. Estimate: $30 - $40 Open: $15 Price realized: $30 |
